Before you can file for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy, you must complete a credit counseling course from an approved agency. Here is a list of the approved agencies. The Certificate of Credit Counseling expires after 180 days and if you have not filed your bankruptcy case in this time period you will have to complete the course again and pay for it again.
You must also take a 2nd session called ?Debtor Education? course after you file in order to receive your bankruptcy discharge. See the blog posting on Debtor Education
