Prom dresses about to overtake Tucson College

Prom is coming up soon for many high school students, and Prom-O-Rama is in Tucson to help.

Hundreds of prom dresses are to be collected at Tucson College beginning today; all in an effort to help keep costs down for many Pima County high school girls who want to attend their prom.? Tucson College is collecting prom dresses from ladies in the community that wish to sell dresses they will no longer wear but would like to sell.

Dress donations run the full spectrum ? from those that are gently worn, but still good, to those never worn with tags still on them.? Anyone interested in selling a dress can bring the garment to Tucson College and set their price for that dress.?

Donation drop off started today at 9 a.m. and runs until this Thursday, February 21 until 5 p.m.

Tucson College will not be making a profit on this event, as the event is designed as a community service to help teenage girls and their families find a beautiful dress at a cost they can afford. All of the money received for the dresses goes to the seller. Prices will vary as each seller sets the prices, but they are much less than buying a dress at a retail store.

Erin Kowalsky is the High School Presenter for Tucson College and the organizer of the event. ?She had this to say in a recent news release, ?We are so excited to offer this opportunity to the Tucson community. Every girl should feel like a princess at their prom regardless of how much their budget is. We already have over 300 dresses promised.?

Kowalsky continued, ?Many vendors have already promised to bring dresses priced between $30 and $40.? We will have dresses in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. This is also a great opportunity for ladies to sell their dresses and get extra cash while helping someone else find a beautiful dress for less. Tucson College will not profit from this event. 100% of the proceeds from the sale of dresses will go to the seller. We are simply hosting this event to benefit our community.?

Those interested in buying a dress can swing by the event on February 23, starting at 10 a.m. and ending at 2 p.m.

The event will not only have dresses, but there will be multiple vendors: Maya Palace, Connecting Threads Std., Hem and Her, Goodwill, Tan D Sol, Gadabout Salon and Spa, Sam Pappas Photography, Domino?s Pizza, Premier Designs, Asian Eyebrow Threading, Evergreen Florist, Limoport Transportation, Savers, Nails 2 GoGo, and other vendors with prom accessories.

Special thanks go out to SS Customs AZ, Savers, and Salpointe Catholic High School ?Fashion-In-Action? club for helping with the event.? Dress buyers can also enter to win door prizes which include but are not limited to a free hair up-do and a deluxe mani-pedi.

If you are interested in selling your formal gown please contact Erin Kowalsky for more information at (520) 308-8120 or erin.kowalsky@tucsoncollege.edu. The deadline to register your dress is Thursday, February 21, 2013 by 5:00pm.
