Georgia commitment still looking at options

Nick Glass

2014 DB Nick Glass (6-2 203) of Atlanta committed to Georgia April 4th but has plans for several visits moving forward. Glass chose UGA because he feels it is best for his future. ?It?s home,? he said simply. ?My grandmother has never missed a game I?ve played in and it?s close to home. Plus, I know I?m going live in Georgia once I?m done with football and it?s about connections and networking.? Glass has visited Clemson three times and will attend a game this fall. ?I love Clemson,? Glass said. ?Every time I?m there, the coaches welcome me with open arms. I?ve built a great relationship with coach (Marion) Hobby and coach (Charlie) Harbison.? He also enjoyed USC and was present for the Showcase camp. He plans to return with a teammate for a game this season. Other schools he plans to visit include Southern Cal, UCLA, Oklahoma State, Auburn, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Ohio State and Michigan. ?All have offered along with Ole Miss, Mississippi State, Illinois, Louisville, Virginia and others. He is very strong in his commitment to the Bulldogs.

2014 RB Derrell Scott (5-11 180) of Havelock, NC has offers from USC, North Carolina, NC State, East Carolina, Duke, Virginia Tech, Tennessee and Ohio State. The junior has visited the Gamecocks and really liked what he saw. ?I like it a lot there actually,? said Scott. ?They made a great first impression on me. I like the coaches?I like the offense?I like the city and I like what they told me. They said that they?ll give me a chance to play early if I come in and work really hard. I like that.? Scott could return to Columbia when Georgia plays USC. His other visits include UNC, NC State, ECU and Tennessee. Scott is in no hurry to make a decision however. ?I?m going to take my time and enjoy the process,? he said. ?I want to give everyone a chance.? As a sophomore, Scott carried the ball 179 times for 1870 yards and 22 touchdowns averaging 10 yards a carry. He does not have a favorite.

2014 OL Bentley Spain (6-6 285) of Charlotte has offers from USC, Clemson, LSU, Stanford, North Carolina, NC State, Florida, Vanderbilt, Miami, Michigan, Virginia and Virginia Tech among others. Bentley spoke highly of USC and Clemson and has visited each school several times. ?South Carolina was the first to offer me so I?ve had a chance to build a great relationship with the coaches and some of the players,? Spain said. ?Coach (Shawn) Elliott and I have a good relationship and since he is my recruiter and positions coach, that?s a plus. I?ve been there six or seven times and I like it a lot.? As for Clemson he said, ?I like them too. I?ve built some great relationships with coaches. They have a great game day atmosphere and a great tradition.? Spain?s other visits were to LSU and Stanford. ?I like both of the campuses,? said Spain. ?Stanford of course has the academics and LSU is a national power. I want to learn more about both schools.? This season he plans to attend games at USC and Clemson. He would like to commit within the next 12 months but says, ?I?m not going to rush it?. He does not have any favorites.

Basketball News:

6-4 Matt Howard of AC Flora had surgery Thursday on his broken right hand. ?I didn?t have to get a plate,? Howard said. Instead, three screws were inserted into the bone. ?They said my bones were extra strong when they went in.? Howard broke his hand last week at an AAU tournament in Richmond.

USC and Clemson target 6-9 Demetrius Henry of Bradenton, FL said Thursday he definitely will wait until the spring to sign. Some of his other offers are Florida State, Miami, Virginia Tech, Memphis, Southern Cal and Kansas State.
